Rays 13, Yankees 4-Kennedy less than stellar in opening debut

The Yankees came into 2008 knowing they would rely heavily on their young pitching. So far, Joba and Phil have done a good job. Ian Kennedy, though, didn't. He gave up six runs in 2.1 innings to get the loss. Even though some pitches didn't go his way, he was not economical with his pitches and got shelled. The Yankees are going to need better pitching from him to stay in the playoff race.

Despite being down 6-0, the Yankees rallied to make it 6-4 in the third, but could not put any more on the board. Andy Sonnastine got the win. Two of his last seven wins are against the Yankees, figure that. How the rest of this league can batter this guy and the Yankees can't makes no sense.

The game got blown out of proportion when the two best arms in the pen (just kidding) Hawkins and Farnsworth combined to give up seven runs between the two of them highlighted by an absolute bomb by Carlos Pena. One of the biggest needs for the Yankees this off-season was bullpen and tonight showed that we still have a sucky one in the late innings. The middle relief actually looked good, but out late guys were awful.

The Yankees need to get a win tomorrow. They have not been playing awe inspiring baseball this season.
