The Devils picked up their first win in eight attempts against the Rangers today with a 3-2 win in the shootout.
The real importance of this game was settling who got home ice for the playoffs. The Rangers needed to win in regulation to get home ice, but the Devils just needed any win or loss in overtime.
The Rangers fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game, but could not get the goal needed. Henrik made some great saves at the end to keep the game tied.
The loss in the end really didn't matter. The playoffs were already decided and in the playoffs, the shootout doesn't matter.
I'm looking forward to this series. After losing via sweep two years ago, this one should be great.
LET'S GO RANGERS!
